Betsy
Betsy is On The Road Again!
She could easily win the Most Well Traveled Beagle in Minnesota award and she’s proud of it. Betsy has her own VIP nest in the back of the family SUV. It’s almost her second home.
In the past few years, she has sniffed and squirted in Banff, Seattle, New Orleans, New Jersey, North Dakota, Iowa, Washington, DC, and many points in between. And of course in Minnesota.
Beautiful Scenery!
Lucky Betsy was first loved by Rahul when he met her at a pet adoption event in Eden Prairie, MN in 2016. She came in from Alabama, which is where he went to school and their personalities matched perfectly, they bonded immediately. And he was going to “just look.”
That didn’t take long. Although she was probably 8 or 9 years old, Rahul was smitten. Sure, she had some health issues to clear up and he suspected she recently had puppies. No worries. He held her, kissed her, and brought her into the best forever home she could ever want or need. She then met Avery in 2019 and won over her heart.
Hanging with my humans!
Her naturally mellow disposition means she isn’t a needy dog. She is happy to be with her humans, no matter what the day would bring.
Then, one day in the summer of 2025, Rahul, Avery, and Betsy welcomed a beautiful baby - a human baby - into their home. Betsy suspected something was happening and when Jiya arrived she was her usual, calm, cool self. She sniffed Jiya. Then she looked at Avery, who held Jiya very close. Dad bent down and picked up Betsy, explaining to her that Jiya was her new sister. Betsy sniffed Dad, gave him a quick kiss and looked at Jiya.
Loving life with Mom and Dad
Dad Rahul set her in the floor and she meandered to one of her five beds situated throughout the house. This is important because Betsy loves her humans. She needs to be with them - all the time. Rahul, Avery, and Jiya embrace Betsy’s sweet presence, which they believe casts a calm aura in the entire house.
That’s interesting!
During the pandemic of 2020, Betsy got so used to having someone at home with her all the time. She cannot take being away from them for too long. Thankfully, both Mom and Dad are able to work from home on certain days each week. This means that Betsy can enjoy the love of one of them, sometimes both of them, every day.
Pretty great, right?
Betsy turns three times and curls up in her living room bed. Even the raucous, random noise from outside won’t bother her. She rarely barks. She’s just wants to be with her family. Always.
Betsy turned 15 years old in January, 2026. She fought through heart worm and other maladies, so when a tumor was found, Mom and Dad knew she would get through it. And of course, she continues to do so.
Good smell!
Got a treat? She’s happy to do a little spin dance for you. She can even meet a “High 5” invitation. The fun ball that dispenses treats is also entertaining for a bit.
This very happy girl will gladly engage in a neighborhood walk. In her younger days, she would gleefully join Mom and Dad for a invigorating jaunt. She even put on some international miles with her best buddy Lacie, when they travelled to Banff to explore the Canadian Rockies. Today, walks are still welcome, but the duration is a bit shorter. Rahul bends down and picks her up.
Betsy’s friend Lacie
“It’s okay, sweet girl, I will carry you for a while.”
Betsy relaxes in Dad’s arms as they stroll the sidewalks of the neighborhood. The smells reassure her that she hasn’t missed anything important.
Back at home, Mom gives Betsy a soft treat as a reward for being so wonderful. Dad holds Jiya. Mom lifts Betsy into her arms and sits next to Dad and Jiya.
Betsy drinking in life!
This is all she could ever want or need. The best forever home - ever.
